The Art of Applying Gesso
Gesso is a paint-like product. It is a suspension of gypsum in an aqueous solution of latex. The better products such as High Quality Brand Gesso are made with micronized gypsum. You should always shake the jar or bottle well before applying the gesso suspension to the canvas. Be prepared to apply up to three coats. Sanding in between coats is also recommended. Following these simple steps will ensure uniformity and smooth application.
